Abstract
By using EPR and magnetic susceptibility measurements, the Cr ion dist ribution in the xCr(2)O(3) .(1-x)[70TeO(2) . 25B(2)O(3) . 5PbO] glasse s with O<x less than or equal to 20 mol% was studied. EPR investigatio n evidenced the presence of Cr3+ ions in agreement with the experiment ally obtained atomic magnetic moment values. For concentrations x less than or equal to 3 mol%, the isolated Cr3+ ions coexist with those co upled by dipole-dipole interactions. For x>3 mol%, the Cr3+ ions parti cipate in superexchange interactions and are predominantly antiferroma gnetically coupled.
