Abstract
The longest available SO2 concentration records for the Greater Athens Area (GAA) have been used to study the long-term Variations of this p ollutant during the period 1971-1989. The analysis showed that decreas ing trends are observed at all monitoring stations, during this period . This decreasing trend can be attributed to the reduction of total su lphur emissions, which resulted from the progressive application of va rious measures and regulations, from 1976 until 1982.
