Ag. Vlyssides et Cj. Israilides, CHARACTERIZATION OF ALCOHOL MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIAL-WASTES IN GREECE, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 6(11-12), 1997, pp. 699-704
The present paper deals with the characterization of liquid (vinasse)
and solid wastes generated from the fermentation and distillery proces
s. Eighty percent of the alcohol is produced in Greece from beet molas
ses and 20% from cane molasses, raisins, figs, wines and wine lees. Fo
r every kg of alcohol produced, the vinasse generated is about 12 kg.
The effluent contains high concentration of organics, sulfates and org
anic nitrogen.
