Abstract
The simultaneous influence of two major environmentally relevant param eters pH and temperature on copper adsorption and desorption in sand w as studied. Increase in pH (from 4 to 9) and temperature (from 10 to 3 0 degrees C) increased the quantity of adsorbed Cu. Adsorption specifi city was also increased by temperature. Release of copper in the water column was induced by reacidification of the suspension (back to pH 4 ) and it was higher at low temperature. The major role of pH and tempe rature on Cu behavior is discussed.
