Abstract
It had been suggested that cyanidin 3-O-(6 ''-O-monomalonyl-beta-gluco pyranoside) and another unknown compound occur as major pigments in th e purplish-red flower of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum). We determined the structure of the unknown compound as cyanidin 3-O-(3 ' ',6 ''-O-dimalonyl-beta-glucopyranoside) by FAB-MS and H-1-NMR. This i s the first report of the identification of the cyanidin 3-dimalonyl g lucoside as a flower pigment.
