cis-Dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of bi-, tri-and tetra-dentate Schiff
bases derived from 2-benzoylpyridine and monoamines, such as, p-anisi
dine, m-phenetidine or p-toluidine, and diamines, viz., o-, mor p-phen
ylenediamine are reported. Reactions of the bi-, tri-and tetradentate
Schiff bases with [MoO2(acac)(2)] in ethanol medium in 1:1, 1:2 and 1:
2 molar ratios, respectively, yield diamagnetic molybdenum(VI) monomet
allic complexes of the composition, cis-[MoO2(L)(OEt)(2)] (where L=bid
entate schiff base derived from monoamine) and the ligand bridged bime
tallic complexes, cis-[Mo2O4(L-1)(oEt)(4)] (where L'=tridentate schiff
base derived from o- or m-phenylenediamine or tetradentate schiff bas
e with p-phenylenediamine). These complexes have been characterized by
elemental analyses, molar conductances, IR, UV/Vis, H-1 NMR and CV st
udies.
