Abstract
Isonitrosopropiophenone (HINPP) is proposed as a new reagent for extra ction and spectrophotometric determination of Co(II). The reagent reac ts with Co(II) to give a yellow coloured complex which can be quantita tively extracted into chloroform at pH 8.0. Molar absorptivity at 355 nm is 2.9466x10(3)1. mol(-1) cm(-1). Beer's law is obeyed in the range 0.5-7 ppm. The proposed method has been used for analysis of Co(II) i n real samples.
