Dissipation of two alachlor formulations, emulsion (EC) and microencap
sulated (ME), in a clay loam soil cultivated with maize crop (Zea mays
L.) were compared. In the Po valley condition alachlor residue levels
far each formulation were similar: dissipation time (DT50) of emulsio
n and microencapsulated formulations in top layer were 10 days and 16
days for EC and ME respectively. Alachlor is rapidly degraded and slow
ly leached. The overall quantity of residues leached to 40 cm were 1.3
% (EC) and 1.0% (ME).
