Abstract
Carbon foils or ''strippers'' play an essential role in the high yield production of multicharged ions used for heavy-ion accelerators. Ther efore, large-scale production of thin films of carbon with very good h omogeneity and high reproducibility is crucial. A semiautomatic system of carbon sublimation has been constructed in our laboratory. Most of the operations are controlled by a microprocessor to avoid manual imp erfections. With this simple and efficient system, it is easy to get t hin or thick carbon foils with good precision and high reproducibility .
