Abstract
We compared 1-year survival in patients receiving implantable cardiove rter defibrillators (ICDs) that provide only shock therapy with more a dvanced ICDs that provide antitachycardia pacing, bradycardia pacing, low-energy cardioversion, and advanced detection algorithms. Outcome i n patients with advanced-generation ICD systems was similar or improve d compared with outcome in patients receiving ICDs with only monophasi c shock.
