The relationship between frequency of temazepam misuse and violent or
disorderly behaviours was examined, controlling for psychological star
e, other substance use and sociodemographics in logistic regression eq
uations. The subjects were residents of projects accommodating the you
ng, single homeless in Scotland. A semi-structured questionnaire elici
ting retrospective self-reports of substance misuse and other behaviou
rs was administered. Temazepam use was related to violence and getting
into trouble with the police. IV temazepam was related to collapsing
or becoming unconscious, as was opiate use, which was also related to
emergency medical treatment, accidents & injuries and breaking/damagin
g things.
