Abstract
The ever increasing demands in the area of environmental protection ar e causing industry and especially the food processing industry to inve st large amounts in this area. One of the biggest tasks that companies are confronted with is the realisation of the advanced waste water tr eatment that meets not only todays demands but also the increasing dem ands of the future. A high standard in construction and process techno logy is achieved by using experienced environmental engineers in the p lanning as well as specialized firms to carry out the project. High in vestments are needed in order to construct such systems with todays te chnical standards. The commissioning of such a system and the fine tun ing in regard to the optimal cleansing conditions, the minimizing of t he running costs and energy used has to a large extent been neglected up to date. The construction of a sewage treatment plant does not nece ssarily mean that the plant functions properly. This becomes possible after a professional commissioning, optimization and the running by sp ecially trained personnel. An important point in the commissioning of such a plant is the training of company personnel as well as the writi ng of a practical instruction manual. These things, as well as the fur ther support of the commissioning company will ensure that the sewage treatment plant will function for many years to come.
