The synthesis and antimicrobial activity of six new 2-akenyl-6-aminobe
nzothiazoles are reported. The new compounds were prepared by alkenyla
tion of the potassium salt of 6-amino-2-mercaptobenzothiazole with alk
enyl bromides. The structure of the compounds was verified by H-1 NMR
spectra. The compounds have shown antibacterial activity against Staph
ylococcus aureus and anticandidous activity against Candida albicans.
The optimum structure of the studied compounds has been calculated by
quantum chemistry AMI method. The theoretical values of lipophilicity
were calculated for all alkenyl substituents.
