Abstract
In this excerpt of Software Reuse: Architecture Process and Organizati on for Business Success (Addison-Wesley, 1997), the authors describe t he benefits of reuse and debunk the misconceptions that stand in the w ay of achieving reuse gains. Jacobson is the inventor of the Objectory method and a well-known pioneer in the use of object technology. Jons son is further developing Objectory, with a focus on reuse. Griss has been involved in software reuse for 23 years, the last 14 at Hewlett-P ackard. Their book describes how a reuse architecture can dramatically improve development costs and development time. They contend that reu se technology is ready now: Companies that are prepared to implement a systematic reuse program will ''coin money'' in the future.
