Abstract
The Laplace sequence of discrete conjugate nets is constructed. The in variants of the nets satisfy, in full analogy to the continuous case, a system of difference equations equivalent to Hirota's discretisation of the generalized Toda equation. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
