Abstract
Emission of charged clusters from a Ta target under atomic and diatomi c gold ion bombardment has been investigated. The cluster yield was fo und to depend nonlinearly on the number of atoms in the bombarding mol ecule. The results obtained are discussed on the basis of the model of nonlinear effects in sputtering due to spike formation. (C) 1997 Else vier Science B.V.
