Abstract
Two sets of self supporting samples of Metglass 2204 (Ti50Be40Zr10) ha ve been irradiated at about 80 K temperature with 260 MeV Ag ions. Spe cial care has been taken to fairly achieve a uniform electronic energy deposition throughout the sample without any ion implantation, Scanni ng electron micrographs of the samples Frier to and after irradiation showed about 5% dimensional change in a set of three samples at a flue nce of 1.1 x 10(14) ions/cm(2) in concordance with the theoretical pre dictions based on viscoelastic model and earlier findings. The dimensi onal changes of another set of samples at Phi t = 1.8 x 10(13) ions/cm (2) were smaller and within the limit of experimental resolution. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
