Abstract
End users and suppliers of chemical treatment additives in the Benelux have initiated and developed a standardized procedure for assessing t he performance of treatment programs for recirculating cooling water s ystems. This procedure is published by the Netherlands Standardization Institute as NEN-742-1996. The participants of this project intend to further develop this method as an International Standards Organizatio n standard. Full background and technical details of the test procedur e are given in this article.
