Abstract
Alpine meadow-grass (Poa alpina L.) is a valuable fodder grass in high alpine regions and particularly suited for landscape engineering. Its florets differ in size and diagnostic characters from the other trade d Poa-species. The number of chromosomes is variable. However, storage protein electrophoresis patterns of the obviously apomictic species a re different among ecotypes and different from other Poa-species. Thus , in seed testing, verification of species can be done by floret diagn ostic characters and verification and purity determination of varietie s and breeding materials by storage protein electrophoresis.
