E. Richter et Kr. Subbaswamy, THEORY OF SIZE-DEPENDENT RESONANCE RAMAN-SCATTERING FROM CARBON NANOTUBES, Physical review letters, 79(14), 1997, pp. 2738-2741
Raman scattering from single-walled carbon nanotubes is examined in de
tail theoretically and compared with experiments. Within a simple tigh
t-binding model the Raman matrix elements are evaluated explicitly, an
d the shape of the resonance in the scattered intensity due to interba
nd electronic transitions is derived. The resonance in the optical reg
ime is shown to depend sharply on the diameter of the tubes. Thus, res
onance Raman scattering may be used for determining size distribution
in a sample, as well as for the determination of details of the band s
tructure.
