UV ABSORPTION CROSS-SECTIONS FOR A SERIES OF FORMATES

The UV absorption cross sections of methyl formate, ethyl formate, n-p ropyl formate, and n-butyl formate are reported. The UV absorption spe ctra were measured by using a diode array spectrometer over the wavele ngth range 211 to 260 nm at room temperature (297 +/- 3)K. The results are compared with the previously reported ones for methyl formate and ethyl formate. This work provides the first UV cross section measurem ents for n-propyl formate and n-butyl formate.
