Abstract
An intestinal disease in pigeons (Columba livia) from the Canary Islan ds characterized by diarrhea and body weight loss is described. Intest inal cryptosporidiosis was identified in three young pigeons. Cryptosp oridia were associated with hyperplasia of the intestinal crypts and m oderate inflammatory infiltration in lamina propria. This is the first report of cryptosporidiosis in pigeons.
