R. Stenbacka, THE LABOR-MARKET IN AN ECONOMY FACING UNEMPLOYMENT - POTENTIAL FOR REFORMS AND POLITICAL LIMITATIONS, Ekonomiska samfundets tidskrift, 50(2), 1997, pp. 121
This inaugural lecture presents a discussion of the Finnish employment
problem from the point of view of the existing rigidities in the labo
r market. Particular attention is attracted to a presentation of a num
ber of important aspects of labor market policies intended to increase
the flexibility of the labor market. Further, the discussion explains
why the political process has prevented politicians from carrying out
reforms reducing the rigidities of the labor market.
