Cadmium and copper flux through feeding induce a high accumulation oi
these metals in tissues of the oyster Crassostrea gigas. The accumulat
ion occurs without cellular injury. Using Electron Energy Loss Spectro
scopy (EELS), analysis demonstrated that metals are accumulated in lys
osomes, in which the heavy metals are stored as Cd2+ and Cu+.
