PRIMORDIAL VERSUS INSTRUMENTAL BASIS OF ETHNIC AND NATIONAL IDENTITY

The first proposal of this study is that an individual construes impli cit beliefs about the character of large human societies. The second p roposal asserts that those beliefs create a basis of his/her identific ations with those societies. The study argues for the proposals and sh eds light on the link between the primordialist/instrumentalist belief s of an individual and his/her ethnic/national identity.
