S. Kumada et al., GAUGE FLUCTUATIONS DUE TO DILUTE SKYRMIONS IN THE QUANTUM HALL STATE, Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 66(9), 1997, pp. 2770-2776
We investigate physical properties in the low-density limit of skyrmio
n excitations in the system at the Landau level filling factor nu = 1/
odd. We derive the spin susceptibility and the effective interaction b
etween skyrmions beyond the mean field (saddle-point) approximation, O
ur approach consistently reproduces the spin susceptibility with the m
aximum structure at a finite temperature. We also And that the interac
tion is screened by thermally activated skyrmion-antiskyrmion pairs, w
hose spectra are concentrated in the low frequency regime around omega
= Gamma(q) similar to q(2), where Gamma(q) is the relaxation rate. It
is shown that the skyrmion excitations reduce the magnetization and t
hat the amount of the reduction in the magnetization due to the skyrmi
on excitations becomes small when we introduce the interaction between
skyrmions.
