Rj. Biellik et Cj. Clements, STRATEGIES FOR MINIMIZING NOSOCOMIAL MEASLES TRANSMISSION, Bulletin of the World Health Organization, 75(4), 1997, pp. 367-375
As a result of the highly contagious nature of measles before the onse
t of rash, nosocomial transmission will remain a threat until the dise
ase is eradicated. However, a number of strategies can minimize its no
socomial spread. It is therefore vital to maximize awareness among hea
lth care staff that an individual with measles can enter a health faci
lity at any time and that a continual risk of the nosocomial transmiss
ion of measles exists. The present review makes two groups of recommen
dations: those which are generally applicable to all countries, and ce
rtain additional recommendations which may be suitable only for indust
rialized countries.
