Dibarium erbium heptachloride has a network structure composed of ErCl
7 and BaCl9 polyhedra, Since the array of the Ba and Er atoms is isost
ructural with the alloy Co2Si, the structure can be considered as a st
uffed Co2Si-type structure. The mean bond distances are 2.704 Angstrom
for ErCl7, 3.221 Angstrom for Ba1Cl(9), and 3.212 Angstrom for Ba2Cl(
9). Some of the Cl atoms form tunnels running parallel to the c axis.
