The 2-amino-5-nitropyridine molecule of the title complex, C5H5N3O2.C5
H4N2O3, is planar, while the nitro group in 3-nitro-2-pyridone is tilt
ed away from the mean plane by 27.9(3)degrees. The C-C bond distance b
etween the substituted atoms in the pyridone ring, 1.439(3) Angstrom,
is slightly lengthened due to the electron-withdrawing effect of the a
djacent carbonyl and nitro groups. The molecules are linked into centr
osymmetric tetramers which are stacked in layers along the c axis. The
layers are held together by weak C-H ... O hydrogen bends and van der
Waals interactions.
