S. Nanbu et al., MOLECULAR SWITCHING IN ONE-DIMENSIONAL FINITE PERIODIC NONADIABATIC TUNNELING POTENTIAL SYSTEMS, The Journal of chemical physics, 107(14), 1997, pp. 5445-5459
A new idea of molecular switching is presented, The idea is based on t
he intriguing phenomenon of complete reflection, which occurs in a two
-state potential curve crossing of the nonadiabatic tunneling type. Co
mplete switching of transmission is theoretically possible in one-dime
nsional systems by introducing impurities in the system. The basic sem
iclassical theory is presented, and the phenomenon of complete reflect
ion is clearly interpreted and numerically demonstrated, An idea of an
energy filter to facilitate the switching efficiently is also introdu
ced. The possibility of bound states in the continuum is also clarifie
d, This new molecular switching is numerically realized by the wave pa
cket propagation. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
