Abstract
The dynamics of proton transfer in the first excited singlet state of malonaldehyde [(A) over tilde B-1(1)(pin)] have been investigated thr ough the use of high-resolution degenerate four-wave mixing specrrosco py. Observed (A) over tilde B-1(1) - (X) over tilde (1)A(1) (pi<--n) rovibronic features are at odds with previous absorption measurements and cannot be explained readily through the accepted description of tu nneling behavior within the (A) over tilde B-1(1)(pin) potential surf ace.
