Abstract
Synthetic-resin sheet of glass-fibre and PA12 can be press formed into a bus tail gate, providing a weight reduction of 27 % over aluminium, with comparable stiffness and strength. At production rates of over 2 600 units per annum, the plastic version is actually more economical.
