Fundamental studies of screws of parallel and conical twin screw extru
ders indicate a considerable developmental potential in the extrusion
of PVC. New processing concepts can be applied which will result in an
increased throughput in the extrusion of several different formulatio
ns without the need of a screw change. It is predicted that by the yea
r 2000 the throughput levels per extruder size will be double of those
typical only in 1994.
