The effects of halogen (I-2, Br-2, IBr) intercalation on the electrica
l resistivity, thermoelectric power and superconductivity have been in
vestigated in the non-superconducting Bi2Sr2(Gd0.82Ce0.18)(2)Cu2O10+de
lta of the Bi-2222 phase. It has been found that as-sintered samples o
f the Bi-2222 phase are non-superconducting for lack of carriers in th
e CuO2 sheets and that the IBr intercalation is very effective for the
carrier doping into the CuO, sheets and gives rise to superconductivi
ty of the bulk at low temperatures below about 20 K. There is a possib
ility that T-c of the Bi-2222 phase will increase through further carr
ier-doping, because the superconducting samples are still located in t
he underdoped regime.
