Abstract
Neutron scattering measurements of the temperature dependence of the r elaxation rate of crystal-field excitations in underdoped high-tempera ture superconductors show clear evidence for the opening of an electro nic pseudogap in the normal state. The relaxation behaviour appears to be extremely dependent upon the energy at which the static susceptibi lity is being probed.
