Abstract
We have measured the magnetic field penetration depth in single crysta ls of La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 and Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 using the technique of muo n spin rotation. In La1.85Sr0.15CuO4 we observe a strong linear temper ature dependence of lambda(T --> 0), characteristic of a d-wave pairin g state. The absolute value of the penetration depth in electron-doped Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 is comparable to that in the hole-doped La1.85Sr0.15 CuO4.
