Abstract
The closely related temperature dependences of both magnetic and charg e transport properties for underdoped high-T-c cuprates are investigat ed. The spin pseudogap is suggested to follow from the deviation of th e chemical potential away from the van Hove singularity (vHs) as the s ystem goes into the underdoped regime. A correlation between the anoma lous transport properties and the opening of the spin pesudogap is dem onstrated.
