A new possible treatment of the gauge field fluctuations around the sl
ave-boson mean-field theory for the t-J model has been proposed by att
aching gauge flux to spinons and holons and then treating them as g-on
's, which respect time reversal symmetry and continuously interpolate
between fermions and bosons. Using the thermodynamic distribution func
tion of g-on's and assigning statistics to holons (g) and spinons (1-g
), the optimum statistics has been determined in the plane of doping r
ate and temperature. The results indicate that slave fermion (slave bo
son) is favored at low (high) doping with intermediate statistics in b
etween. The consequences of varying the dimensionality and strength of
J have been studied also.
