Bulk melt textured YBCO materials in the shape of disks have been deve
loped. It is found that the top seeded method is efficacious to fabric
ate single domain material, which is required to achieve the best magn
etic properties. Both trapped-field mapping and X-ray Phi-scan techniq
ues have been used to evaluate the single domain nature of the YBCO di
sks. A levitation force of 2N/g has been achieved for this kind of bul
k.
