Abstract
In order to establish the condition of YSr2Cu3Oy (YSCO)-phase formatio n under ambient pressure, samples with various starting compositions w ere prepared in flowing oxygen atmosphere. When the mixed precursor ma terials were reacted in an alumina crucible, the superconducting YSCO- phase (T-c=75 K) was found to form. On the other hand, samples heated on a Pt mesh did not contain the YSCO-phase. These results suggest tha t inclusion of a trace amount of Al ion as a stabilizing dopant signif icantly promotes the YSCO-phase formation.
