Abstract
Two new families of praseodymium-based cuprates, (Pr,Cd)Sr2YCu2Oy and (Pr,M)Sr-2(Gd,Ce)(2)Cu2Oz (M = Cu,Zn), have been synthesized and ident ified by XRD, ED analyses. (Pr,Cd)-1212 crystallizes in a orthorhombic cell, with a = 3.838 Angstrom, b = 3.812 Angstrom, c = 11.82 Angstrom , (Pr,M)-1222 is of a tetragonal cell with a = 3.837 Angstrom, c = 28. 799 Angstrom for (Pr0.5Cu0.5)Sr-2(Gd1.2Ce0.8)Cu2Oz and a = 3.824 Angst rom, c = 28.990 Angstrom for (Pr0.5Zn0.5)Sr-2(Gd1.2Ce0.8)Cu2Oz. Their ED patterns show that no superstructure exists in the two series of Pr -based cuprates. These compounds are semiconductors under the present experimental conditions.
