Abstract
We report the interatomic charge distribution (ICD) studied by laborat ory powder x-ray diffraction in YBa2Cu3O6.9 (BYCO) and CuGeO3. In cont rast with the existence of two dimensional network of ICD from the Cu 3d and O 2p sigma orbitals in BYCO, rather ionic feature of copper and oxygen atoms was found in CuGeO3 together with the charge localizatio n in the planar lattice of one-dimensional -Cu-O-2-linkage.
