We report polarized Raman scattering measurements on the HgBa2Ca2Cu3O8
+delta superconductor (T-c=130 K) in the normal and the superconductin
g state. The Raman-active modes associated with oxygen vibrations in t
he CuO2 planes have been clearly identified. Measurements of their tem
perature dependence demonstrate that the A(1g) 265 and 400 cm(-1) mode
s show abrupt changes across T-c while similar ''anomalies'' were not
observed for the B-1g 245 cm(-1) mode. Below T-c, superconductivity-in
duced spectral redistributions of the electronic continuum have been o
bserved for different scattering polarizations. In the B-1g channel, i
n particular, we observe three distinct peaks at 380, 660, and 800 cm(
-1). Such multicomponent features can be interpreted in terms of diffe
rent order parameters associated with different sheets of the Fermi su
rface.
