The phonon dispersion in Ba(Pb0.75Bi0.25)O-3 (BPBO) was studied by ine
lastic neutron scattering. The structural distortion characterized by
the octahedron rotation has an important impact not only on low energy
acoustic modes but also on the ferroelectric branches at higher energ
y. The dispersion of the transverse bond stretching branches differs f
rom that observed in Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 (BKBO), whereas first results on LO
modes indicate a similar anomalous effect.
