Abstract
An orthorhombic, superconducting to monoclinic, non-superconducting ph ase transformation in Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy is overviewed. Substitutional dopi ng studies suggest that the transformation is dominated by oxygen diff usion in the vicinity of the CuO2 rather than in the BiO layers.
