E. Coni et al., AN EXPERIMENTAL APPROACH TO THE ASSESSMENT OF REFERENCE VALUES FOR TRACE-ELEMENTS IN HUMAN ORGANS, Trace elements in medicine, 11(2), 1994, pp. 84-91
An investigation was undertaken to assess reference values for minor a
nd trace elements in human organs of urban subjects. Analytical determ
inations were carried out by inductively coupled plasma atomic emissio
n spectrometry. Results show that experimental conditions must be care
fully optimized to guarantee reliability of data. Strict criteria for
tissue sampling and pre-treatment also had to be set. For a total of 3
6 subjects provisional reference values for Al, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Li, Mg
, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sr and Zn could thus be established.
