Abstract
A prospective study concerning 10 animal species in the region of Tuni s, demonstrated that ringworm was observed in 33.5 % of the cases. Thr ee species of dermatophytes were isolated: Microsporum canis: in cats, dogs, and for the first time in Tunisia in rabbits; Trichophyton ment agrophytes: in cobayes, rabbits and in one single occasion in cat, and donkey; Trichophyton verrucosum: found exclusively in cattle. The aut hors insist on the important number of asymptomatic carriers of dermat ophytes (76.1 %).
