Yy. Chang et al., THE CODEPOSITION OF MOLYBDENUM-DISULFIDE WITH NICKEL - PROCESS AND ELECTROCATALYTIC CHARACTERISTICS, Journal of the Chinese Institute of Chemical Engineers, 28(4), 1997, pp. 245-252
Composites containing molybdenum disulfide of various contents in a ni
ckel matrix were prepared using composite electrodeposition technique
in this study. The nickel-molybdenum disulfide system, as a hydrogen e
lectrode in alkaline solutions, exhibited a more significant increase
in electrocatalytic property than pure copper and electrodeposited nic
kel, Moreover, the electrocatalytic performance displayed an optimum e
fficiency at 34% by weight of the MoS2 in deposit, We also examined th
e process characteristics of codepositing MoS2 particles with nickel u
sing statistical experimental design in order to obtain a better under
standing of the process. The critical factors in codepositing nickel a
nd molybdenum disulfide particles were investigated, According to thos
e results, the pH value and bath temperature are of primary importance
, Rotation rate of electrode is a secondary significant factor, The ex
tent of codeposition increases with the pH value of the bath, The exte
nt of incorporating the MoS2 phase, howerer, decreases with the soluti
on's temperature.
