Abstract
An overview of the analysis of opiates by gas chromatography-mass spec trometry (GC-MS) is presented. The review is focused on the hydrolysis , extraction and derivatization procedures most widely used for the id entification and determination by GC-MS of legal and illegal opiates i n various biological fluids.
