E. Doege et Ba. Behrens, REDUCE PROCESS CHAINS DUE TO THE PRECISION FORGING OF GEARS-EFFECT ONTHE CONVENTIONAL FORGING TECHNOLOGY, Journal of materials processing technology, 71(1), 1997, pp. 14-17
In the past, the range of parts of hot massive forming could, as a res
ult of the technologically induced production tolerances, only seldom
be extended to include workpieces with higher demands on accuracy. Due
to a comprehensive cooperation between research and industry. the tec
hnology of precision forming, however, becomes more and more important
in comparison with metal-cutting soft machining processes, as this te
chnology may, with the same production accuracy and productivity, redu
ce the production costs. In the field of precision forming, the produc
tion of gearings takes on a main position due to the great market pote
ntial of geared parts. If the development of forming processes for the
mass production of gears is successful, these may substitute machinin
g which has up to now been predominant in this field. (C) 1997 Elsevie
